My Seeds

My Seeds -

This summer I have been intimately excited about a flower growing in my garden. I had planted some seeds of this flower for years. Each year – throw out some seeds – no flower

Next year throw out some more seeds – no flower, again next year – no flower.

This year I determined not to give up –one last effort – I only had a few seeds left.

So this time I decided to do something different – I prepared the soil with some of my organic compost, I planted the seeds a little under the soil – instead of throwing them on the top. And then I watered the seeds every other day.

To my surprise little bits of green started poking their heads from the soil. But was it my flowers or my vegetables I had planted in the same area? But my heart told me  - “Don’t pull it” – let’s wait and see.

Sure enough - when the blooms formed and  opened up – my heart exploded

Why did I get so excited about a flower?

Those seeds had been given to me by my mom almost 10 years ago.  I still remember seeing them bloom on her patio – in fact they would reseed themselves every year and keep coming back for her enjoyment and beauty on her patio.

Almost one year ago I said goodbye to my mom and she slipped into heaven.  I miss her more than I thought was possible. But this year I was determined to give these seeds every possible chance to not only survive but to bloom. The beauty in these flowers represents the beauty of my mom.

Your Seeds Sometimes we want health but yet we throw our hopes in the wind – maybe this supplement will work, maybe this food will make the difference, maybe this work- out program will be the ticket to success.

Too many times we start a program only to give up right before it was ready to burst forth in bloom.

Does that describe you?

Are you ready to really do it this time?  Are you ready to weigh less  for the rest of your life, feel better for years to come, breathe better in your home, _________ - you fill in the blanks.

What are you missing and what are you willing to do to see your health bloom?

To be honest – there are days that if I wasn’t teaching healthy living I would have given up. The culture we live in makes this challenge difficult.  But I found it was my focus – focus on biblical success and it is easy. Focus on the struggles and you will never achieve the pinnacle of success you really deserve and desire.

Getting started – Getting planted

  1. Sow your seeds on fertile ground. The fertile ground is your mind.  Determine your success and your actions will follow.
  2. Choose foods that bring health, joy, slimness, and fulfilment. Remember the 3 Principles taught in the Treasures of Healthy Living Bible Study.
  3. Supplement wisely – I would never go a day without the Shaklee Vita Lea (multi), B complex ( I love my mind and this protects it), Omega Guard (again protecting my mind and hormones – lose either of these or both and you are at the mercy of your kids taking care of you  - think about it) and finally the Shaklee protein

This is the basic building block to our success.

Join me as we garden together in our health and in our finances.  Together they shape our future.

Lessons I Learned at Camp Graca

BE INTENTIONAL

  • Don’t give your only hiking map to the baby!
I thought Hazel, my youngest granddaughter, needed a little entertainment as she bobbed along in her carrier attached to me. But when we realized we were lost on the trail and our only map was now in sticky bite size pieces plastered all over Hazel’s face I knew we were in trouble.
As we found the right trail, Lillie and Stella, trying not to break camp rules of no complaining just kept saying as we hiked further into the woods – “I wish Hazel hadn’t eaten the map!”
But our perseverance paid off, we saw this eagle perched above her nest with young eaglets in it!
  • Always have fun!
I just returned from Camp Graca.  It was a fun time doing camp with my granddaughters.  We hiked, climbed, played, did crafts and hiked some more.

  •  Let each camper make their own Trail Mix for daily hikes.
It seemed no matter how much we hiked or explored they knew they could eat their trail mix any time they wanted. This made them very happy. And since they put it together themselves from the nuts, seeds, fruits and granola I provided, I knew it was healthy.

BE OBSERVANT
  •  Seek out ways to show the grand-kids God’s lovingkindness.
Our memory verse for camp was:
The earth is full of the lovingkindness of the LORD.
Psalm 33:5

As we explored, our goal was to see how many different ways God shows us His lovingkindness.  It is all around us; in the trees, under a rock, in the water, in the air and also in our trail mix.
His lovingkindness is there for us to enjoy.

BE AUTHENTIC
  • Let kids be kids and grandmas be grandmas.
  • Most of all be real with our words, actions and thoughts so that no one can deny Christ lives in our lives.

This summer be intentional about looking for and enjoying God’s lovingkindness.
Be intentional – be observant – be authentic.
Summer is the best time to enjoy fruits and vegetables FRESH!
Fresh from the garden is the best way to taste and savor   – discover and experience the excellent of their kind.
Blessings to each of you,
From my heart to yours and from my kitchen to yours,

Ready For Beautiful Skin and Extra Energy

Beautiful skin and extra energy all begins in one special place in your body. Transform this one place (organ) and you will change your whole life!

Then learn how one organ can make your daily experiences more vigorous, dynamic and effective. This organ is like the gatekeeper to your happiness. It allows in what your body craves and guards against what your body disdains. It gives you that extra skip in your step and the extra curl in your smile. The saying “If Momma ain’t happy then nobody is happy” could be applied to this organ “ If it ain’t happy then you will never be happy”.

This organ, the most active organ in your body is the liver.
It is assigned with over 500 different tasks including its central role in processing, storing and redistributing the nutrients provided by the meals we eat. If the liver’s numerous roles are upset by liver damage or disease the effects on health and nutritional status can be profound.

An example of this is fatty liver disease which did not exists 20 years ago and is the reason for over 25% of all liver transplants today. And yet, this disease starts and ends with your fork. That means most health problems can be avoided if we learn how to care for and rejuvenate the organ vital to our youthful living.

This organ when it is sick will make you unhappy in more ways than you can imagine but yet it itself rarely complains. Check out the list below of symptoms a sick liver can manifests and yet we treat the symptoms not realizing the liver is the one behind the problems. Most liver diseases go unnoticed for years before the organ finally cries out “enough is enough”, “I can’t cope any longer” Then you have a full blown disease with sometimes little hope of recovery.

Today you can give a hand to this overworked, non complaining organ. Read what it does for you, then read what symptoms can result from it being overworked. And finally give it a break every year in the fall by allowing it to clean house without the interruption of more toxins and food coming through the pike. It is hard to clean house until you stop bringing the dirt in even if only during the time of cleaning. Who can mop a floor when your son’s baseball team has just traipsing through with their muddy shoes?

Give your body a break, rejuvenate your liver and you will be rewarded with:
  • Beautiful skin
  • Vibrant energy
  • Non-complaining Joints
  • Weight loss
  • Years of Happiness
  • Plus much – much more
  • Years of happiness.

How Are You Preparing For The Most Significant Event In History?

Passover – Easter – the most significant day in history – how do you prepare for such an event?
Weddings, anniversaries, birthdays, college graduations – these events are milestones in our life and typically are met with celebrations sometimes huge, elaborate celebrations! Each of these events were preceded with months of preparations to make sure all details were covered. Many times for me the preparation was just as much fun as the event itself. The self-preparation, the anticipation, the excitement – all came together to make the final event tremendous.

Resurrection Sunday is an event worth getting ready for!

Not just buying new clothes and hiding Easter eggs but more. What would happen if your family planned and prepared for 6 weeks for this special event? How would it change the take-away for your kids? What impact would it have on their lives?

Did you know that every Biblical Feast has a direct correlation to God’s plan?  The Passover is clearly the story of redemption of the Israelites but it holds a greater prophetic picture of God’s plan for a world redemption!  Folks – that is you and me – that means pack your bags – never mind you wont need them – that is something to shout about! That is something to make sure EVERYONE is ready for! This is not about a bunny, eggs or ham! This is about REDEMPTION!v

crosses-planter-rocks1

Today marks 6 weeks till the event of what is typically known as Good Friday, when many Christians celebrate the crucifixion of Christ. Last year in our newsletters we addressed the actual timing of the week and the accuracy of the events in correlation of the Scriptures and Jewish calendar.

I want to invite you to join me in taking these 6 weeks and prepare your heart, your family, your congregation to be ready for this miraculous event, the Passover and Resurrection of our Lord and Savior.

The finest way to prepare is to clear our mind of worldly distractions and utterances.
For me, I am going to fast from all of man’s imitations of God’s foods plus sweeteners. This means any food that is altered by man I am going to abstain from.  This does not mean I will eliminate the bread I mill and bake myself, that would be contrary to Scripture. No instead, I will be making the Unleavened Bread from the Healthy Treasures Cookbook and daily having communion with the Lord in my quiet time.

1 Corinthians 11:26 – For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until He comes.

Secondly, I am going to be more honoring of the Sabbath.  This has always been a difficult dilemma with my career. My schedule includes teaching on both Saturday and Sunday and when I teach I also sell products. I am making this a time of prayer and commitment. Except for classes I am already assigned to teach I will be honoring the Sabbath from Friday evening till Saturday evening.

These are my steps to prepare my heart for the most important day in history.
• What are you going to do?
• How are you going to prepare for this special event?
* Have you considered sending out Resurrection cards to your friends and neighbors?
• Have you considered participating in a Seder meal?
• There are many books on the biblical understanding and timing of the Passover, crucifixion and resurrection of our Lord and Savior, let me encourage you to seek these out and study them as a family. Messiah in The Feasts of IsrealCelebrating Jesus in The Biblical FeastsGod’s Appointed Times
• Have you considered a fast?  You can learn more about fasting in Chapter 6: Treasures of Healthy Living Bible Study. You can also download the Daniel Fast from Amazon or Nook.

3 Rules Anyone Can Eat With & Enjoy

Paleo Diet, grapefruit diet, HCG diet, the sprinkle diet, the lose weight while you sleep diet, diet, diet, diet. Every day there are new rules and new diets.  When I was a young wife and mom I tried every diet out there and bottom line they each worked but only for a short time. I continued to gain weight, feel lousy all day long and have no energy.

Now I have years of experience to still agree they don’t work.  These diets never answered that one question constantly playing in my mind: If I was created for a purpose by a loving God, wouldn’t food have a biblical guideline to match the creation?

As if descending down on a cloud the answer came – the rules to eating I could live with and not only live but worship and glorify.  Worship rules? Yes, when they are such as these:

1  RULE #1 – EAT THE FOOD GOD CREATED FOR YOU TO EAT.

That is simple enough since headlines everywhere claim fruits, nuts, vegetables are the perfect food. So yes, I can do that. But does that mean all food must be raw?  No, keep reading.

Foods that fit perfectly in rule #1 include: fruit, nuts, seeds, vegetables, meat, eggs, dairy, and bread – yes bread.

2

RULE # 2 – EAT THE FOODS CLOSEST TO GOD’S CREATION

WITH VERY LITTLE ALTERATION.

In our pleasure and compulsive seeking culture, we often formulate additives, chemicals and processed foods that take us away from our Creator’s perfect design for nutrition. Altering foods has caused an alarming rate of obesity,

diabetes and other serious health issues.

green-bible-icon-smallProverbs 14:12 – There is a way that seems right to a man(such as additives, flavor enhancers, etc), but in the end it leads to death.

Foods that fit perfectly in rule #2 include: same as above but avoid processed foods. Bread – learn to make your own by milling your own wheat, add grains into the diet but start with the real grain and cook it yourself, find meat and dairy that is rich in nutrition and yet empty of hormones and chemicals.

3

RULE #3 – DON’T LET ANY FOOD BECOME YOUR GOD

Chocolate, coffee, chips, yes they can be addictive but that does not make them a wrong choice. YEA – that is good news. But when these foods are addictions – meaning you can’t go even a day without them then that is a sign of trouble.

When food consumes our thoughts, actions and behavior – oops we may have a problem. Addictions are rampant in our society. And food can be an addiction.

green-bible-iconExodus 20:3 You shall have no other gods before me.

John Piper states: What we hunger for we worship

That is a strong statement for me since I was plagued with food addictions most of my life. But when I saw that it wasn’t the food that brought love, joy, comfort and fellowship but instead it was the relationships in my life; then food was able to take it rightful place – on the table.

Healing food additions is best through fasting. Fasting from one food, food group or all food for a specified length of time can help us break this addiction.

3 EASY RULES – rules that you can take in your pocket to the grocery store, the restaurant, and even in the kitchen to prepare healthy satisfying meals your family will love. And best of all these foods will bring the joy of glorifying health to your family.

Now after applying these rules to my life for over 10 years:

  • lost and kept off 50 pounds – that is something to shout about,
  • no prescriptions since 2003! That is an even bigger shout out!
  • Energy and vitality
  • NO MORE DIETS!!

You too, can follow these 3 easy rules – it is freedom indeed.

PLAN OF ACTION:

Learn more about these 3 easy rules read these books:

What the Bible Says About Healthy Living: 3 Principles that Will Change Your Diet and Improve Your Health by Dr. Rex Russell (He is the original author of these three rules.)

Treasures of Healthy Living Bible Study by Annette Reeder  -the three rules (principles) are expanded and delivered with a foundation to learn more from the Word than even before about healthy living from a Biblical standpoint. This is the tastiest Bible study ever written.

From Cancer To Something Beautiful

Going from Cancer to something beautiful was the best journey we have ever taken.

Isaiah 43 says to not ponder the things of the past, “Behold I will do something new, now it will spring forth. I will even make a roadway in the wilderness”.

Looking for God designed health in America is like living in the wilderness but God promises to make a roadway. So let’s not ponder our wrong eating choices in the past but move forward. He is going to do something new today and going forth, He is going to make something beautiful of your life. And you are going to live vivaciously to share it with others.

But how did this transformation happen?

Did it happen overnight? No, it happened daily as we looked at everything we ate and believed about health and brought it back to measure up to the Word. There will always be experts in the field of health. As Christians we have been blessed with
the Bible to guide us through the ‘experts’ and make the best choices.

Now the journey, the treasure hunt, the discovery, can be in your hands. Now you can search the Scriptures, the treasure map, for our journey on this hunt for health.

Three Tools for your own transformation:

  • Your personal Bible
  • Treasures of Healthy Living Bible Study-  the perfect guide book to help you on this journey.
  • 3 Principles – Simple, Biblical,Enjoyable and Practical – learn about these in the Treasures Bible Study

Remember God never intended  food to be the forbidden four-letter word. He meant it for satisfaction, blessing, and fellowship.

The Treasures of Healthy Living Bible Study begins as a discovery. Since the late 1800’s people have turned their back on family/biblical knowledge of food and listened to the ‘experts’ for knowledge on food. Today begins a journey as we reverse our focus back to the pages in the Word for guidance. This journey will seem like a treasure hunt. The words are familiar but the discovery will be new and refreshing.

Let me and Dr. Couey be your tour guide as we delve into this journey to discover the treasures of health that have been eluding us for so many years.

Psalm 119:92-93 says, “If Your law had not been my delight, then I would have perished
in my affliction. I will never forget Your precepts, for by them you have revived me!” (NASB).

This verse became our family life verse  - we are revived! Today we are praising God for the joy of discovery He brings.

Great health is in God’s plan. God’s health plan is more than food choices. It includes our attitudes, relationships, and outlook on life. This Bible study will take us deep into the eye-opening trails on our map. At different junctions we will compare our directions with various health experts. This hunt is an opportunity for God to reveal His abundant blessings through deeper fellowship, refreshed fulfillment, fabulous food, and harmonious families. Are you ready?

Remember, those who quit too early never get to see the full reward.

The revelation of Your words brings light and gives understanding to the inexperienced.
—Ps. 119:130 HCSB

Plan of Action:

  • Treasures of Healthy Living Bible Study
  • The Daniel Fast
  • Treasures of Health Nutrition Manual
  • Healthy Treasures Cookbook

“I was greatly inspired by Annette’s insightful, inspiring and challenging messages. She is knowledgeable on this much needed subject and is a lovely, winsome lady, who out of great conviction presents valid reasons for following this healthy lifestyle.”
